4H Leadership@ Yangzheng focuses in nurturing confident and caring leaders, leading self and leading others. Building on the strong fundamentals of the 4H Leadership model, and Kouzes and Posner Leadership Challenge Model, the YZPS student leadership programme is committed to developing confident leaders who can lead self and others. This is achieved through the various programs, trainings and opportunities provided to all leaders. The 4H Leadership@ Yangzheng believes that every student has the potential to be a student leader and should be given the opportunity to take the lead in different leadership roles. We believe that the opportunities and trainings and will equip our YZnites with the skills and competencies to enable them to carry out their responsibilities, reflect and grow in their role as leaders.
We groom values-centric leaders who show care and are grounded in strong school values of passion for learning, responsibility, integrity, self-discipline and empathy and actively contribute to the community. This is achieved through the provision of level-wide programmes and Values-in-Action platforms.
YZPS LLP Overview
Tier 1: All students from P1-P6 will be given the exposure and engagement and they will be exposed to basic leadership competencies and lifeskills.
Tier 2: Students selected as student leaders will be given the exposure and engagement needed. In this tier, students who are identified with leadership potential at Primary 3 to Primary 6 will be given more opportunities to practise and experience leadership roles at class and school level. These student leaders will be given platforms and programmes to participate to improve and sharpen their leadership potential. The focus is on developing the YZPS 4H Leadership competencies, MICEE competencies, self–leadership and team leadership in all students leaders.
Tier 3
Student leaders who are identified with greater leadership potential at
Primary 4, 5 and 6 are assigned with larger leadership roles. This group
of student leaders will be further developed, especially in the area of
engaging and influencing their peers, so that they are equipped with the
skill-set to lead their fellow schoolmates to serve the school community
and the community at large. They will also have the opportunity to network
and train with the student leaders from the cluster schools. The focus
is on developing the YZPS 4H Leadership competencies, MICEE competencies,
self–leadership, team leadership and thought-leadership in all student
leaders.
PREFECTS
The prefectorial board is an integral part of Yangzheng. Our prefects
role model, inspire and lead the student community. Through a range of
trainings, activities, on-the-job experiences and mentoring by teachers,
our students leaders are developed to become caring and empathetic leaders
who are equipped with 21cc skills and competencies to become confident
and caring leaders who are capable of leading self and others.

This year, 44 prefects and 7 prefect leaders went through the Prefects Investiture. The Prefect leaders had the opportunity to go through the election process where they had to campaign, make a speech and perform confidently in an interview by the school leaders.

Each Prefect selected a unique campaign symbol to represent themselves during their campaigns.

During the campaign, supporters conveyed their unwavering support for the candidates by writing encouraging messages and notes, rallying for support, and creating posters to endorse them.
Cyber Wellness Leaders
YZPS Cyber Wellness Leaders must lead by example, be role models by understanding their roles as CW Leaders and gain greater awareness of Cyber Wellness related issues.

Through their active involvement, the Cyber Wellness Leaders will influence fellow YZnites to behave and respond to Cyber Wellness related matters in ways befitting of a Responsible Yznite and a Caring Friend.
Cyber Wellness Leaders Training
P5 and P6 Cyber Wellness leaders attended the Cyber-Wellness Leaders Training. The Cyber Wellness leaders learnt about the importance of their roles and to see themselves as agents of change in the school. Through the training, the leaders also gained greater awareness and knowledge of cyber wellness related issues such as managing device usage and cyber bullying.

YZnites’ Voice
In 2021, the Prefects embarked on a project to understand and improve Recess Experience in Yangzheng using Design Thinking.
As part of the project, pupils were interviewed and invited to participate in a survey and given the opportunity to vote for the suggestions of their choice.
The Prefects then got into teams to implement the suggestions in in 2021 and 2022.

Bean bags, skipping ropes, cones, soft balls and traditional games like five stones, chapteh etc were provided by the school for UPLAY.

Pupils got to pre-order the food before recess to reduce the waiting time to buy food during recess.

Pupils got to watch documentaries, cartoons and listen to music in the school canteen during recess and lunch.
Digital Portfolio for Leaders
This year the leaders have embarked on a journey to create Digital Portfolio which will capture their learning as leaders, chart their growth, build their skills and knowledge, and enhance creativity over time. By building their individual Digital portfolios the leaders will gain the autonomy and responsibility to develop their own digital portfolios, which allows them to own their learning and development.
During the process, Leaders will be also be taught how to use Google slides and Canva etc to build their Digital Portfolios to enhance the leaders’ technological skills.

P6 Prefects attended the Digital Portfolio for leaders sharing. The Prefect leaders shared their Digital Portfolio with the P6 Prefects. Our Ex-Head-Prefect 2021, Anushkka and Vice Head-Prefect 2021, Riven shared their DSA experience (Leadership) and their leadership journey in YZPS and in their respective secondary schools.
Teambuilding and Problem Solving

Leaders participated in a teambuilding session where they were required to problem solve to overcome a Domino Challenge.
Lifeskills@YZPS for P1, P2 and P3 pupils
Lifeskills@YZPS aims to build abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour that enable YZnites to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. The Lifeskills Workshops for P1, P2 and P3 pupils covered personal safety, basic first aid skills, critical and analytical thinking, problem solving, having empathy towards others, building teamwork, effective communication and collaboration with one another. Students are also equipped with technological skills on how to use digital devices to interact and complete tasks using computer-based technologies.

P4 Prefect Training
On 1 July, the P4 prefects attended a training to learn more about 4H Leadership@Yangzheng. During the training, the P4 prefects participated in teambuilding activities where they were required to think creatively and communicate with one another to overcome the given challenges.
