National Day Celebrations 2018

National Day Celebrations 2018

In a blink of an eye, it was time for us to celebrate Singapore’s 53rd birthday again. In the weeks that were leading up to our National Day celebration, a series of activities were lined up to commemorate this momentous occasion. For a start, the school took part in the 3M Step-Up Challenge which allowed every Yangzhengnite to exercise in unity for a good cause. Back in their classrooms, Yangzhengnites were also introduced to the significance behind the NDP 2018 theme through the customised Character and Citizenship Education lessons for National Day.

The recess activities featured a mini carnival where pupils went through a gallery walk and answered 4 questions to earn a limited edition DIY fidget spinner. Pupils also got together to take part in some team activities, such as the “Stack-up Cups” and the “Cover the Spot” game. Through these activities, pupils learnt about our national symbols and were once again reminded about our nation’s effort towards Total Defence.

On 8th August 2018, the National Day celebration kicked off with the observance ceremony in the morning. The celebration resumed after the Sports Fiesta and our pupils were proudly waving our national colours. Apart from community singing, there were plenty of interesting segments that kept pupils engaged throughout the celebration. From the fabulous performance by our school’s International Dance members, to the MTV featuring our very own teachers, it was indeed a celebration that lived up to this year’s NDP theme, “We Are Singapore.”
